Gutters are an integral part of your roofing system. Without gutters, rain would go from your roof into your home’s foundation. If that happens, you’ll be dealing with a myriad of flooding and/or structural issues. Needless to say, gutters are absolutely essential. If you want your home or commercial property to last for a long time, then you must keep your gutters in good condition. Like all things, though, there will be times when new gutters are necessary. If you notice any of these 4 signs, then it’s probably time to replace your gutters.
Cracks or Holes
Even if you’re not particularly handy, finding cracks or holes in your gutters is quite easy: run a hose through it; if you see water coming out from the sides, then you’ve identified a hole or crack. If your gutters are riddled with cracks or holes, then you’ll most likely have to replace them.
Sagging
If your gutters hang low, then it’s likely that they were either damaged, or not maintained well. Sagging gutters are just a big issue waiting to get bigger. If your gutters are sagging, check it for holes, cracks or breaks. If you do replace your sagging gutters, consider reinforcing them with gutter guards. These will help keep unwanted twigs and debris out, making regular cleanings easier to keep up with.
Random Screws or Nails On The Ground
If you see screws and/or nails on the ground below your gutters, then they either need to be repaired or replaced. Your gutters are fastened to your property with nails and screws; therefore, nails and/or screws on the ground is an indication that the gutters are becoming loose. This could be due to a variety of factors, such as damage, age, or climate.
Water Pooling Next to Your Property
If you see a pool of water right under your roof line, then this could mean that there’s something wrong with your gutters. If your gutters are not working properly, water will fall from your roof and into your foundation, which can cause some scary puddles of water.
